Titanium quartz is a sort of natural quartz that has been treated with layers of titanium in a process known as magnetron ionization. Normally, with any other kind of precious minerals, the molecules are bonded to the the quartz in a high-heat vacuum chamber, which results in a rainbow coloring that cannot be scraped or scratched off. However titanium molecules could be bonded to the quartz by electrostatic charge, meaning only electricity is used to deposit the titanium layers and create the rainbow colors, very little heat is involved and the integrity of the crystal is maintained. The crystal does not become brittle or prone to breakage as with heat treatments.
