The origin of the name of this Obsidian has a tragic tale behind it. In the 1870's a small group of Apache warriors were out numbered by American Cavalry in a battle. Instead of conceding defeat and being captured/murdered, they instead decided to ride their horses off the side of a mountain to their deaths. According to the story, it is said that the Apache Tear Obsidian are the tears of the wives and children that had fallen at the scene and turned to stone.
